Paturau is located on the beautiful and scenic Northern West Coast of the South Island,
New Zealand. Our wonderful farm stay and accommodation is the perfect place to get away
from it all and experience the serenity that Paturau and the surrounding are has to offer.
Our Backpackers accommodation is basic but wonderful for families with children, church or
youth groups or travellers who wish to spend time in the "real" New Zealand.
The accommodation consists of a bunk house which sleeps 10 people and a small cabin for 4.
All amenities needed for a warm and comfortable stay are available, including two separate
showers and two toilets.

The Backpackers is located on a working farm
and visitors are able to see us on the
farm as we
go about our day. We have cattle, sheep, dogs,
cats, guinea pigs,
horses, peacocks, chickens
and a pig on the farm - which makes it a wonderful place for
children and adults
alike!
The farm is very close to a beautiful beach which is safe to swim under supervision.
There are plenty of wonderful places to experience at Paturau. The area offers river and bush walks,
historical walks to old goldfields, caves to explore and
sand dunes to slide down!
Other activities can be arranged such as kite flying, guided cave tours and nature
drives. It's sometimes
possible to do a little surfing here in Paturau and if you love fishing, it's a great spot! You can also try your
hand at wind surfing or kite surfing and it is also possible to collect delicious shellfish. We have a couple of
kayaks, and canoes if you're into exploring the inlet or rivers, or paddle around
West Haven (Whanganui Inlet).
